FAQ: My Poem Is In the Book - Do I Get A Free Copy?

This is the question that we are asked most often: "My poem is included in the anthology - do I get a free copy?"

Unfortunately, it is only the WINNERS who receive a free copy of the book and that is part of their prize. We include the other shortlisted poems in each category in the final anthology to recognise the work of the authors who submitted them and also in the hope that people may like to purchase copies for themselves.

It is only due to the generosity of people buying copies of the book that we are able to keep Pendle War Poetry a FREE TO ENTER COMPETITION ass the funds raised help to cover the cost of the winners' certificates, prizes and the cost of the posting them out.

Other competitions charge a fee of £3 or £5 per poem to enter and - quite often - your submissions disappear into some sort of black hole.  Other publishers stuff huge quantities of poems into expensive hard-bound volumes and then try and charge you £20+ for a copy.  We don't do any of that - we keep our anthologies at a reasonable price so that everybody can enjoy them and we do not charge for entries so that everybody across the world and of any age can enter easily.

We hope that you agree with our philosophy and look forward to your continued support in the future.
