2012 Competition Results: LOCAL PENDLE (ADULTS)

The 2012 Pendle War Poetry Competition has attracted hundreds of entries from right across the world. The overall standard has been very high and the judges have all commented on what a difficult decision it has been to arrive at a winner.

In the LOCAL PENDLE (ADULT) Category, the judges have announced the following result:

1st Place:  “Battlefield” by Olwen Lund

2nd Place:  “The Convoy” by Bob Walker

3rd Place:   “Barnstormers” by William Stephenson

(Note: There was a large tie for Highly Recommended poems in this section and the writers will be contacted separately.)

The writers of the 1st , 2nd and 3rd placed poems each win Spa Experience vouchers donated by our sponsors. All three also receive a certificate, a  copy of the “Bullets & Daffodils” Soundtrack CD and a copy of the “Pendle War Poetry Competition – Selected Poems” 2012 book, in which their poems will be included.

The prizes will be presented and the winning poems read out at a special presentation evening to be held at the ACE Centre in Nelson on Thursday 18th October on the occasion of the East Lancs Première of the Bullets & Daffodils show, in the presence of the Mayor of Pendle, local MPs and other dignitaries.

Competition winners will be contacted individually regarding the Presentation Evening.
